In the South Western side of the Indian sub-continent, lies this blissful, small state of Goa. Having been colonised by the Portuguese prior to 1961, Goa has the touch and feel of a foreign land in the Indian soil. India’s ultimate party destination and a trove of fine port wines and spices, Goa is the place to be for an altogether exotic experience.

The closest airport to Goa is its one and only Dabolim Airport, located in the Dabolim city of Goa. One can easily get a cab hired  from here. There are a fewhotels in Goa close to the airport, but there is no point staying in these until one is on a business excursion or on a transit. The most happening place to stay in Goa is near the beaches. Baga beach is the ultimate beach spot in Goa which has an alley of contemporary and vintage eateries and pubs leading to it. The shacks or the small eating joints on the beach would spoil anyone with an array of exotic Goan and multi-cuisine delights.

Although majority of hotels in Goa provide cab facilities to their guests to travel around comfortably, but the ultimate fun lies in hiring a scooty, a bike or an open jeep to drive around the colorful city. A normal scooter would cost around Rs. 400 per day for hiring and the cost goes up with a better two wheeler option.

The water sports of Calangute beach are the most famous. Name a sport and they have it there, with proper equipment and lifeguards. After the sports, one can either shop at the local flea bazaar right outside the beach, or binge on fine Goan cuisine. Though there isn’t much for shopaholics in Goa, but a trip to Goa is incomplete without taking back home a souvenir of Goan port wine or the delectable roasted cashews.

After having the feel of the beaches and adventurous water sports in the old city, head to the New City of Panjim or Panaji, the capital of Goa. With terraced hills, churches, riverside promenade, and casinos, Panaji is the right choice for the ones who are ready to shed a few extra grands to get their moolahs spinning on the roulette! The sight of the casinos on a yacht, anchored in the sea running along the busy road in the city of Panjim, is a breathtaking spectacle. People from across the country, and outside, make a visit to these gambling spots for an added adventure.

So, before planning a trip to Goa, it is advised to get onto the train ticket booking process first, since Goa attracts a huge crowd in the peak seasons. It is always better to be a bit pre-planned to avoid any last minute disorders. Have an adventurous and safe trip!
