Landline phones are almost obsolete, but credit card fraud may still happen over landlines. These scammers know that people using landlines are probably not that adept with modern technology. They are the most vulnerable individuals.
They start by calling random landline numbers and pretend to be from a credit card company. During the process, they ask for the credit card information or even ask for the password pretending that it is a way of confirming that the person on the phone is the actual owner of the credit card.
Now that they have the credit card information, they will use it to max out the credit card and buy whatever they want. If pretending to be from a credit card company doesn’t work, they will try to pretend they are from an electric or water company.
They will act as if the credit card owner has an outstanding balance and it has to be paid soon. They will then present the idea of giving their credit card information to make the payments immediately. This is how they make those gullible people give the information that is supposed to be private.
Hence, credit card fraud is rampant all over the world. You may be the next victim. These scammers also try calling mobile phones using an untraceable number. This only means you have to be more vigilant. Otherwise, you will end up paying for an amount you have not used.
