Smarty Pants - 5 Apps That Can Help You Get Good Grades

Mobile phone applications provide us with a great amount of convenience and entertainment. However, there are also quite a few mobile apps that can help us with our studies as well. Smartphones have become personal assistants and there plenty of great apps that can help with studying, gathering research, and anything else you need to get an A on that next test.

Amazon Kindle

The Kindle app is essential for those students on a budget. Instead of going to the store to buy the books, a lot of books are available as e-books on the Kindle service. This cuts out the possibility of forgetting your book. As long as you have your smartphone or tablet, you will have your book with you.

Wikipedia

Regardless of what your teachers say, Wikipedia can be an excellent reference for anyone that needs to learn something. There is a near infinite amount of information that’s available on Wikipedia. If you need to brush up on just about anything, Wikipedia is an excellent place to start. Wikipedia is also great for writing essays. While most teachers don’t allow students to use Wikipedia as an actual source, you can just scroll to the bottom of a Wikipedia article and steal those sources. This cuts down the amount of time you have to slave away, finding your own sources.

Unit Converter

This app does exactly what you expect it to do. It allows you convert currency, measures of mass, weight, height, area, anything you can imagine. Not everyone teaches you how to convert units and it can be pretty hard keeping everything in order. However, this is an excellent tool to practice your conversions or to get conversions as you need them.  If you are in a science or math major, this could really come in handy. It will cut time off your homework and allow you to focus on the important parts of your coursework without getting caught up on little things like conversions.

Google Now

Google Now

Google Now uses Google’s search engine to give you information. Any question you ask it, it will likely have the answer for it. This is a great way to get a little more information. Perhaps you don’t know what a word means during a reading, you can just ask Google Now and it will tell you. Google Now is also an excellent time keeping tool. You can set reminders and alarms to let you know when you need to start studying, take a break, or whatever you need to do. Of all the apps that can benefit your education, Google Now is definitely the most versatile.

Google Drive

Google Drive is an excellent app that allows you to save documents to Google’s Cloud service. Why is this useful? Well, you will never have to worry about forgetting an assignment again. Saving it to drive ensures that as long as you have your smartphone, your notes and homework will be right there with you. Drive can be a godsend for those that need to do a little bit of last minute studying before a test or quiz. Plus, you can use your smartphone camera to “scan” documents to your Drive account. So don’t worry too much about that messy backpack. Using the scan feature allows you to easily keep up with all of your work and use them for reference.

There are an abundance of excellent apps that will help you get good grades, you just need to seek them out and download them so they are ready to go when you need them. Instead of just using your smartphone for entertainment, remember that it can also be an excellent educational tool.
