It originated in Andhra Pradesh in Golconda in the great country, India. It was moving in the hands of many Persian, Sikh and Mughul rulers who constantly fought for it. It is 105 carat, unique diamond. But, when India fell in the hands of the English, it was taken by them. The stone measures 36 X 32 X 10 mm approximately. Currently, the gem is preserved in HM Tower of London and is a famous tourist attraction.
The Sancy Diamond
Just like the Koh-I-Noor diamond, even this gem is priceless. It weighs 11 grams approximately. The gem is a pale yellow colored diamond. Back then, it was famous as it was the property of Mughuls. Also, it is of Indian origin. And, it is the first huge diamond which was cut with symmetrical facets. The gem is a unusual one as does not have any pavilion. It includes only pairs of crowns one above the other. This precious diamond is stored in Louvre at the French Crown Jewel collection.
The Cullinan
This precious diamond weighs 3,106,75 carats. And, it is known as the biggest rough gem quality among the known diamonds in the world. When polished, it became Star Africa I or Cullinan I. At 530 carats, it was the biggest diamond in the world along with the Golden Jubilee.
The Hope Diamond
The Hope Diamond costs $350 million and weighs 45.52 carats. Now it is kept in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History at Washington DC. To the naked eye, the diamond looks blue in color. This is because, the crystal structure has many traces of boron. But, when observed under ultraviolet light, it is a red phosphor.
De Beers Centenary Diamond
This diamond was classified as D level by the Gemological Institute of America. It costs a 100 million dollars. This gem is colorless and also flawless both externally and internally. The diamond weighs 273.85 carats. Also, it is De Beer’s Premier Mine’s 3rd largest diamond.
The Steinmetz Pink
This diamond weighs 12 grams approximately and the Geological Institute of America has rated it as Vivid Pink. Also, it can be called the largest diamond with the fancy color, pink. This precious gem was displayed in the exhibition of Smithsonian’s – The Splendor of Diamonds.
